Food and meal habits are very much essential in maintaining the fitness of any person. A person has to follow a healthy diet and also a better eating pattern to compliment it. No matter how much nutrients do you include in your diet, until and unless you don’t have a proper eating pattern your fitness level won’t increase. There are certain things we do regularly that we must avoid for our betterment. What are those? Let’s have a look!
Drinking-Water after Meals
Water is very essential for digestion and hence should be taken in sufficient amounts. But that is to be done before the meal. The people who drink water during or after the meal are making their digestive process slower. The water consumed during that time leads to the clamping of the food which can be even more harmful if you have the problem of constipation
Too much of Tea
Consuming tea just before or after the meal can be delaying the digestion of Iron and stop the gas formation in the body. Though there are numerous benefits of drinking tea regularly, drinking tea just a few minutes before and after having your breakfast or lunch will not be a wise decision for your body.
Sleeping or Laying Down
Many people have the habit of sleeping or laying down after they have had their food. Whether it is the afternoon nap you take or it is the habit of sleeping just after your dinner, it is not healthy for your body and it’s physiological processes. Doctors say, “Going to the bed immediately after a meal might result in heartburns, snoring, and sleep apnea.” So it is advisable to take a small walk before hitting the bed.
Walking, not Running
While it is said having a small walk after the food is good for the health, running might be the complete opposite of that. It puts excessive stress on the kidneys and can also affect the process of absorption of nutrients. There are also some gym freaks who like to work out after the meal which again is not healthy for the body. It is better to wait for at least two hours before indulging in any kind of physical activity after you consume your meal.
Fruits are not Food Substitutes
Many people who are in their diet, have this habit of replacing their daily main course food which is required for energy production or the building of their bodies with some fruits. Or else they choose to take fruit and food simultaneously. The experts say otherwise. “The sugar content in fruit gets fermented with the carbs and protein of food and ultimately delays the digestion process. It increases the pressure on the digestive tract and may result in stomach ache and discomfort.” Hence, fruit and meal consumption is to be kept differently.
Well, these were the five food habits that we all need to get rid of and to boost up our immunity level and enhance our digestive process.
