A 12-year-old was raped, brutally injured and left to die in a one-room flat in outer Delhi’s Peeragarhi on Tuesday evening. The neighbors found her in a pool of blood and immediately reached the nearby hospital. She was later referred to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where her condition is now stable.
Doctors of AIIMS said that the girl was brought in a critical condition. The sources at AIIMS said, “She has a fracture on her skull and her intestine was raptured, indicating injury by a foreign object. Two surgeries were carried out on her on Wednesday. She was moved to the ICU and taken off the ventilator on Wednesday night”.
The girl was alone in the house at the time of the incident as her parents and elder sister worked in the nearby factory. The girl was sexually assaulted, attacked, and injured by a pair of scissors. Bloodstained scissors were found in the room of the victim.
Lately, the suspected accused has been arrested by the Delhi Police after monitoring the CCTV camera of the building. In the preliminary investigation, it is believed the accused is the resident of the building and had kept eye on the girl. Also, he was well-aware of the fact that she is alone at the house.
CM Arvind Kejriwal and DCW Swati Maliwal visited AIIMS hospital to meet the rape survivor’s family. The aid of 10 lakhs to the victim’s family has been announced by the Chief Minister of Delhi.
