Anil Deshmukh on Sushant Singh Rajput case: ‘Don’t think that a CBI probe is required, we do not see any foul play’

It has been over a month now that the demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has shaken the nation. Even after this time, no strong evidence or steps were taken by the Mumbai police according to many Sushant’s well-wishers.

But on the contrary, Maharashtra’s Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that the Mumbai police are capable of handling the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, presiding the requests for a CBI investigation in the case. 

“There was no need to give the case to the CBI. Our police officials are capable and doing the inquiry in the right way. We are also examining the angle of business rivalry,” Mr. Deshmukh told media.

It was recent that actress Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant’s girlfriend requested Home Minister Amit Shah to order the CBI to probe the case.

Tagging Mr. Shah in a post on Instagram, Rhea Chakraborty said that she “only wanted to understand what prompted him to take the step.”

“Respected @amitshahofficial sir, I’m Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, it is now over a month since his sudden demise. I have complete faith in the government, however, in the interest of justice, I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI inquiry into this matter. I only want to understand what pressures prompted Sushant to take this step,” Rhea Chakraborty wrote on Instagram & Twitter.

But then, Mr. Deshmukh said the Mumbai police were conducting a detailed inquiry into the actor’s death and also recording statements of people concerned.

Statements of 34 people, including family, friends, co-stars, and close aides have been taken in the investigations ordered by the Maharashtra government. The police are investigating allegations that professional rivalry besides clinical depression drove him to this drastic step.

Today, the Mumbai Police recorded the statement of the actor’s psychiatrist, Dr. Kersi Chavda, and three other doctors.
